Smile at strangers. Always. Even if they don’t smile back.
If you notice something about someone that you like, like their shirt or their makeup or their eyes, tell them. It doesn’t matter if you know them or not. They’ll appreciate it.
Don’t be a bystander. Hold the door when someone has their arms full. Pick up a busy mother’s shopping list for her when she drops it. If you see a way to help, pursue it.
excersizing everyday, sleeping 8 hours a night , and having a stable minimalist diet. by doing this you improve your life expectancy ,and over all quality of life .this leads to lower physical and mental medical needs which would lower health care cost , higher productivity in the work place.
I believe we all could be a little kinder to each other, be more respectful of our elders and look for the best in people rather than the worst. As a senior I am thankful for the people who have been helpful to me, but when I read of seniors being beaten and robbed and even had attacks in nursing homes it distresses me.
It does not cost anything to be nice, to smile at people and be helpful if at all possible. I don’t get out and about as much as I used to and that is why I have chosen this venue to try and help people with their struggles to find peace of mind and happiness. We can all do something to make life a liitle easier for someone else.
The smallest and most powerful change anyone could bring out in their life is where they would be true, honest and sincere to themselves and to others around the world.
The problem is everyone is trying to impress everyone else with a ‘nicey’ nice and goody goody image of themselves. And they think/assume by doing so - they are going to convince the world or prove it to the world that they are doing the right thing.
However, while this may seem ‘smart’ in the short run, in the long run - this strategy will backfire big time as the person will be viewed as manipulative, fake and untrustworthy.
I know this because I have dealt with clients who have built this image ‘X’ on Social Media to let the world know they are good, nice, decent and exemplary but on the other side they are nothing but a ‘Y’ - they are nothing what they portray to the world as they are wild, adventurous, crazy and fun loving.
So this is something that can drastically improve their lives if they focused on being true to themselves rather than being fake.
Keep your surroundings tidy and clean. A cluttered environment makes things unnecessarily harder.
Examine your motives for doing anything.
Don’t manipulate; don’t cajole; don’t retaliate.
Appreciate your loved ones and those that have stood by you in times of trouble.
Be grateful: for the things you have, for the people that love you, for the experiences you enjoy.
Stay away from those that flatter you but have a dark heart. Their actions hide sinister motives. Beware of those that only seek to tickle your ears.
Analyse all criticism even if harshly delivered. Those that love you will tell you things you may not like but which you may need to hear.
Get enough rest. You will not be remembered for closing a business deal or getting a promotion.
Wonder at nature. Step away from the concrete jungle and admire those things which used to amaze you as a child.
Reach out when you need help. Nobody is an island. Understand that seeking assistance is not a sign of weakness.
Look past your own wants and desires and see if you can make this world just a little better.
Apologise if you’ve wronged someone, even if they haven’t noticed your error.
Be open to new ideas, new perspectives and ways of doing things. Do not prematurely pass judgement. Just because you’ve never come across something before, it doesn’t mean there is no merit to it.
Give some of your good fortune, talents or time to those that need it. Doesn’t have to be grand or over the top - every small bit helps.
Realise that at times if you’ve been unduly hurt, it may not necessarily be your fault. Forgive. Seek restoration. Do not be a doormat but aim for peace as much as it is possible.
Do not insist on doing everything your own way. There is more to life than winning every single battle.
Have the maturity to know that people are flawed: your spouse, your children, your friends, etc. Be gracious, be patient, be tolerant and do not hold them to a standard which is impossible to meet.
At least on occasions, seek the well-being of others above yours. Besides, you might never know when your act of grace will be rewarded.
Lean on the experience of elders. Listen to them and take heed of the life lessons they’ve learned - you may just avoid some mistakes.
Listen more than talk. As trite as this sounds, there is a reason why you have one mouth but two ears.
Accept that during your lifetime you will have seasons of plenty and seasons of scarcity; there will be joy and there will be heartbreak; there will be tears and there will be laughter. Embrace them all, there is something to be learned - even during the darkest of times.
I have just answered a similar question and wonder if I could just copy the answer I gave.. it seems to me like it shouldn’t hurt. (unless you are the same person and then I apologize for repeating myself xD )
I guarantee you feel better if you just power through the 30 days no matter how bad or weak you feel during the course of the experiment..
First off, the moment you wake up get out of bed right away! Don’t let the tempting “demons of slumber” keep you in bed. there are a lot of physiological/psychological reasons for this.. the longer you procrastinate in bed the longer you would want to stay in bed that way feeding your depression while signaling your mind to stay in the “depressed” mode and telling it that this is ok. Best thing is to set an alarm clock for the same time and for the next 30 days get up with the alarm clock. (It will be easier after 30 days, because it will start becoming habitual and that way you will retrain your mind and body from falling into the same bad habits that cause more depression and trap you in that vicious circle)
Second thing (which is also psychological and physiological) make sure you eat right away. A nice nutritionally dense meal (plenty of healthy fats and protein (like a hefty omelette with plenty of butter or nice piece of steak etc..)) this way you will give your body energy to work with which consequently will make your hormones work with you instead of against you (creating more stress hormones and eating up your “feel good” hormones)
There is also a great book by Jordan Peterson: 12 Rules for Life - that talks about a lot of the stuff I wrote above and goes into more depth about how things work inside our bodies and minds.
These seem like “simple things” that should be obvious but a lot of people have difficulty following through..however, they will definitely drastically improve one’s quality of life with a little bit of time ;)
Healthy living. Really, just that. You know that a lot of bad mood and vibes comes from toxins that you’re poisoning your body with, sedentary lifestyle, etc.
Healthy living, as for me, includes these four major steps:
Stay hydrated
Eat healthy
Work out
Don’t smoke/drink/take drugs (not even weed, unfortunately)
I’m more than sure that society would’ve been in much better state than it’s now if people could’ve followed these simple rules.
I’m not telling i’m saint or something. I honestly, the perfect example of unhealthy living: heavy food (pizza is life), smoking, alcohol, etc. At least i’m working out though :D
BUT, i think it’s a good answer to your question.
Talk to strangers. I don’t recommend this to children, vulnerable people or unaccompanied teens, of course.
There are times I’ve been waiting in line at the store or post office and have struck up a small conversation with someone in line. The topics can be mundane like the weather or traffic, but interacting with other people from all different walks of life and having a positive experience with another person can make you feel happier and more connected to your fellow human beings. And that results in being more energized about one’s own life. Occasionally, I’ll learn more about a topic I had no idea about or a funny joke or anecdote I can tell others about.
As a side note, I won’t strike up a conversation with a person who strikes me as threatening, dangerous or unstable, but there have been a handful of times when such a person I wouldn’t start a conversation with has started one with me and it was perfectly pleasant.
It doesn't matter if you are great singer or not. When a song you like comes on, belt it out like you mean it. It relieves stress and will brighten your day. If it’s a sad song, it can be cathartic. It’s even more fun when my family sings along in harmony to the same song in the car. Once in a while, someone in another car will look over and be surprised. I just smile back and keep on singing. Singing to yourself in the shower is fun too, as the acoustics are usually great and you will sound better in there.
This may seem ridiculous, but I’m not kidding. Spend a few cents more a roll and buy the better stuff instead of the cheapest stuff available, if at all possible. It is a good mood killer to go to the bathroom and come out feeling unclean or after having to use half a roll to get there. There is a reason the phrase ‘a pain in the butt’ is so prent to describe something unpleasant, because it really is. Baby your bottom and buy the better stuff if you can.

Stop making excuses
Excuses are the biggest waste of time and only hold you back. Facing things head on instead of trying to excuse around them is a complete game changer. Not only do you solve problems instead of hiding from them, you gain credibility with yourself and with others.
Embrace your nature
Understanding yourself is critical to your happiness and success. The base nature of yourself (ex: compassionate?, studious?, adventurous?) is important to build on. Doing so will give you back all that energy you spent fighting against it. Apply the knowledge and energy to your efforts.
Don’t allow others to treat you poorly
Believe you deserve to be treated well. Set boundaries, let go of bad relationships, correct people when you feel put down. It is important to do this all in a healthy way. Don’t lash out at others, but instead teach them with your response and actions how to treat you. You will garner respect for yourself.
Don’t bring in your mind bad memories, neither big nor small, choose to remind only good things and to talk about good things only. Learn from the bad things you lived through but let them in the past where they belong.
Good things and bad things will happen to everybody but they will take just a few moments of your history, soon they all will be in your past. Your ‘now’ is a brief moment too, but it is up to you to choose what you want to carry with you for your ‘now’. Will it be good things or bad things?
Choose to carry with you just the good things, always say “please”, “thank you”, and smile to everybody you interact with.Your life will be a lot happier and the lives of those around you will be happier too.
Small changes that can make big differences in the long run are: cutting carbs. The no.1 (or close to it) reason for tummy fat are carbs especially bread. I love it! But I have to be careful just how much I eat.
2. Exercise, walking is great you can even do it inside. It's easy on the joints and you can use some hand weights to add resistance for your arms.
3. Find things you enjoy doing. These can be great for when you are stuck inside on nasty days. It helps to keep your mind occupied and your hands busy. When you get bored your mind wanders.
4. Keep low-carb snacks around and water to make sure you are not loading up on empty calories.
Don't want to preach but it is practical advice. It's also good advice.
So now you are on your way ! One more thing, take it easy on alcohol. I just read a piece on my news feed that said any amount of alcohol is not good. Yes that includes wine. Even though the Cabernet Sauvignon is in my husband's list of foods to use.
I still fix his only glass of wine at night.
Start solving your problems. Stop playing the victim by constantly putting up the menu card of your problems. Identify your problems and start solving them or find alternatives.
Overcome your fears. Be brave, be limitless.
Set a goal, break it into sub goals- yearly, monthly, weekly, daily and start achieving them.
Step out of the comfort zone and explore. Who knows you find out your life's calling.
Start reading good books.
Don't stop learning and growing once you get a job. Develop skills and move further.
Expense Diary:- Very fer get training in managing our finances at home/school. However, it is a very important skill. Maintain an Expense Diary and truthfully write down your daily expenses. This will automatically check your over expenditures in due time. Become financially literate; educate your family and friends.
Stop comparing your life to others' Instagram stories, FB posts. If at all you want to do the comparison it should be between your past and your present. Note- It's good to imbibe someone's good habits and learn from their mistakes.
Daily Routine/Time table. Maintain a time table on daily basis and create a routine. This is especially important for students.
